drill water well wood county texas
In an effort to combat the increasing population and dwindling water reserves of Wood County, the Wood County Underground Water Conservation District (WCUWCD) set forth a water conservation plan in 2008 that incorporated the drilling of numerous wells. Thus, enabling sustainable water utilization for the county as a whole.
In order to ensure the sustainability of influential water resources, Wood County’s WCUWCD is mandated to oversee an area of 1,200 square miles, including the whole of Wood County. Their mission is to safeguard groundwater levels from any depletion.
In order to promote the sustainability of its water reserves, the county rolled out a forthright plan that entailed the drilling of well sites across the area. By harnessing these newfound springs, county-wide depletion of water could be forestalled during drought conditions.
Progressing in stages, the plan commenced with the drilling of a dozen water wells, which has now been followed by embarking on the second phase of the enterprise – the creation of 24 extra wells.
The WCUWCD hired a contractor to bore deep into the rocky county terrain with a rig specifically equipped to puncture the tough bedrock. Water wells are the ultimate goal of this excavation mission.
Reaching depths of 1000 feet, wells have been dug to obtain the water being stored in reservoirs that WCUWCD installed on their premises.
During extended times of dryness, the county’s citizens will be able to draw from the reservoir’s reserves to provide water for their day-to-day needs. Simultaneously, the same water supply will be responsible for keeping the neighbouring parks and golf courses lush and green.
With a firm belief that the freshly introduced water conservation plan will be the key to protecting the water resources of the county, the WCUWCD proudly notes that it has brought about noticeable improvements to the water supply of the region.
